Kiara pouted. "It's not fair! Why can't I see Kovu? You wouldn't know what it was like, Mother!" Kopa frowned at her. "Beat it, kid," he growled. Kiara continued, oblivious to her older brother's warning. "YOU had playmates when you were younger! You have no idea what it's like!"
Nala shot to attention and glared at her daughter through a huntress's eyes. "You're right, my dear," she snarled. "I did have playmates. I had many. Tama, Kula, Chumvi, Malka, Tojo and of course, your father. Your grandfather was murdered, and we were lead to believe your father was too. My friends were murdered in front of my own eyes. So was my mother. It was just Tama and myself for a very long time. When Scar tired of her, he killed her to show us he was in charge. He took me prisoner and every day had his way with me until I had to run away or face insanity. But yes, I did have playmates. So I mustn't know what you're going through."
The words had the desired effect on the snooty princess. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped, staring straight ahead but not seeing anything. When she finally turned to look at her mother carefully, Kopa brushed her aside. "Don't be stupid, girly," he warned. "Get out." Kiara was too afraid to look back and ran to the safety of her father's mane.
Kopa moved to sit back down beside Nala. Luckily for Nala, Simba preferred the possibility that Kopa was his son, than the certainty he was not. Luckily for Kopa, he bore so much resemblance to King Mufasa, that Simba was satisfied. Luckily for Simba, Kopa was wise and understanding, nothing like his tyrant father.
I like your design of Kopa, its very interesting and different from all the others. And nice story behind it. I like Nala's stare at her daughter and Kiara just oblivious to it all. Very well done, I think I shall favorite it.

Thanks Narfnarf! I wanted to make Kopa resemble Mufasa both physically and mentally, despite being Scar's son. And I didn't want too cliche a look for him (green eyes, outlander nose) although I did end up giving him rather turuoise-y eyes to resemble Nala :_ Thank you!
Nah, not a written one, but if you check out my other site, [link] and have a fish through the 'li0n king' folder, you'll see some other interesting ideas I come up with Thanks for the comment!
Thanks! There's so much we can do with Kopa, being that the cub at the end of TLK is most definitely NOT Kiara, and the TLK 6NA books hint to his existence, so why not play around with him?! I like him

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
